I had some time reading Jennifer Niven's Breathless these last 2 days and I finally finished it! I liked the way it was written, it was very descriptive and I could practically see the story in my mind as I was reading. However, the story didn't tug at my heartstrings like Holding up the Universe did. Overall, I thought it was just an okay read and I would still want to keep reading Jennifer Niven's books!

When I read the acknowledgements at the end of this book, I felt touched when I knew Breathless was based on Jennifer's life. If you like YA books, then you might not want to miss this!

I rate this book 2.5 stars (I can't do half ratings here so I'll round it up to 3 because there were some quotes that I like in this book).

P.S.: am I the only annoyed at the usage of Captain as a pet name?

I had no idea that this book is so sad, like from the start it just doesn't give any happy vibes...

It was... a bit much. Repetitive and angsty.

Rating this based on enjoyment soley. Or lack thereof.
The writing was really good. The characters were not unlikeable. I sped through it. But, i have to admit stories like this that focus straight onto YA subjects i feel too old for. Sexuality and highschool best friends and first times. Not the book. Me. The premise was so cool but i want to be reading something i love and am not constantly thinking I want to be over.
If I had read this as a teen I am sure i would have loved and appreciated this so much more.

So heartbreaking but absolutely beautiful. I’ve never read a YA book that was so relatable and raw as this one.

A beautifully written story centered around two teenagers- one who is a struggling writer and one who is a gifted photographer.

After her world is turned upside down by her parents Claudine - Known to everyone as Claude- finds herself exciled to a remote island where she meets a bunch of misfits who become some what of a found family. Respected by said band of misfits is Jeremiah Crew- known to everyone as Miah. Together, the two of them navigate their way through life to find where they truly belong.

The ending was somewhat frustrating because of how it is executed but it's bittersweet and beautiful.

A perfect summer read for anyone who is looking to relate to a teenaged light read.
