Not the best, explained how Brennan got into forensic field. I could not hear her voice in this novel, not like in the others. It was as if it had been written by a different author.

I'm underwhelmed at the moment. Maybe the full length novels will be better than the novella.

I really enjoyed this origin story for Dr. Temperance Brennan. I've seen a few reviews stating that they feel that this book is a return to the gripping writing style that Kathy Reichs had in the early books in the Temperance Brennan series; I would agree with that. This novella keeps you interested piqued throughout and Reichs wraps up the story nicely in the short amount of pages we are given.

It left me with questions as well: what happened in the interim between this story and Deja Dead. For instance, Tempe and Pete are young, childless and happily married. Tempe is still drinking wine but the reader is given the sense that she is realizing she has a toxic relationship with the substance. There is also a death at the end of this novella that left me puzzled.

Overall, I highly recommend this book and this entire series if you are a fan of crime thrillers.

I am a huge lover of Bones the TV show and I have been wanting to read this series for a while. So I figured why not give this Novella a shot and see how it goes.

It went smashingly! I love the fact of why Kathy brought Tempe to life. Why Kathy does what she does and gives us a glimpse of her job.

I have always been a girlie who loved Anatomy & Physiology because the human body is an amazing structure. It does Soo much and keeps us going when we are hanging on by a thread. Much like many people who feel as if their rogue justice will really fix whatever is going wrong.

I love how Tempe really brings in the science to make it make sense. Why people died the way they did, how to bring the why to the how. I absolutely cannot wait to continue this series.

I enjoyed the flashback to Tempe's first case and then cried at the present day bit at the end.
