I just love this series so much. It's so fun and cozy and just brings all the happy chemicals to my brain. Shadow is the best boi and deserves all the cuddles and if he ever dies I'll riot.

This book combines education and adventure in a way that it just makes it entertaining to learn. I love that it incorporates fae lore from different cultures all over the world.

My only issue with book 2 was Emily's attitude toward her niece. I love the reconciliation though.

Emily has a fair amount of internal conflict this time around. Because this is written like it's her journal, we get a really nice peak into the way she talks herself through it and all of the things she struggles with in regards to her relationship with Wendell or her frenemy relationship with Rose. I just love the overall writing style and formatting of these so stinking much.

Highly recommend this book for writers who want to do research on fae lore without having to surf through Google or for people who just want a book they can sink into.

This series has been lovely so far. I get completely absorbed in the world of Emily & Wendell. However, it does feel a little bit out of the time period (early 1900s) relative to Emily herself. I don't really mind, but I do end up reminding myself that these take place rather long ago. I'm now fully invested and ready for book 3.

I had high hope for this one as the 1st book SLAYED. However, I found myself a tad bit disappointed. I still finished it and I will definitely buy the third one, but I was hoping and wishing for more.

Just like the first Emily Wilde book, the second installment gave all the cozy vibes, and I loved how deeply immersed I felt in the world. I was so excited to see some old characters return or at least get mentioned (especially Poe!), and I really enjoyed getting to know Emily’s niece, Ariadne, but I did find myself missing the charming and quirky characters from the first book. I get that there were more characters from Cambridge to focus on, but I think the lack of Emily and co. connecting with the local townspeople just made this sequel slightly less magical than the first.

I still don’t know if I’m entirely sold on Emily and Wendell as a couple, but some of the scenes between them in this book were cute, so maybe I’ll be a convert! I’m for sure curious to see how their relationship unfolds in the next book 👀
