It will be argued that this translation is not precise. However, it is valuable for newcomers wanting a comfortable introduction to Taoism, just like a new Christian might enjoy a modern language interpretation of the Bible before entering into serious study with an academic translation. The illustrations are warm and relaxing, making this a nice book for casual reading of the Tao Te Ching.
