as in his other books, strobel tackles some of the tough objections to the christian religion--this time objections that would lead to a lack of faith. these include the problems of human suffering and human evolution. strobel does this by talking to people, he interviews christian authorities on these matters and then shares his refections. it might not convince anyone who isn't already convinced, but it does offer a personal approach to intellectual problems which at least helps make the book more intersting to read. and i think it does show that to be a christian you don't have to check your brain at the door.

A pretty cheap book. The author acted like he had all the answers. And he really hates the King James Version of the Bible and loves the New International Version. I've been noticing a lot of haters for the KJV as of late.

His reasoning that reincarnation doesn't exist was so flawed and stupid. The only redeeming part in this book is that there are 191 predictions in the Old Testament about the coming of Christ.

Avoid this one, please. And that's saying something coming from me. But his other book [b:The Case for a Creator: A Journalist Investigates Scientific Evidence That Points Toward God|214333|The Case for a Creator A Journalist Investigates Scientific Evidence That Points Toward God|Lee Strobel|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1438312193s/214333.jpg|503785] was better.

As with Strobel's "The Case for Christ," this book was a great read and I suggest it for skeptics, believers, and everyone in between. It's a thorough academic study on the Christian faith. This book explores what Strobel calls "The Big Eight" objections to Christianity, including chapters on why evil and suffering exist, why the universe and life must have had an Intelligent Designer, hell, violence in the Bible, and violence committed by those claiming to be true Christians, and more..

Strobel, similar to "The Case for Christ," interviews experts and scholars in various areas and I think the end-product is amazing. He's created a thought-provoking, honest, insightful, and captivating book. He has done it before and has done it again!

Arguing With Atheists

This was an outstanding book on The Bible's truth.

Probably the best book I've read on arguing atheist "beliefs".

I am currently taking a course at my church on questioning the church, and how to respond in love and in truth.
This was a fantastic warm-up to the course, and was very helpful to my excitement and enjoyment of the course.
I got so much from this book.

Highly recommend this book.

This book was a little slow to read.  It’s neither that the arguments weren’t valid nor the testimony not interesting, just the way it was presented.  Strobel’s writing style made it almost feel like I was reading a white paper, which could be a little off-putting to someone on the fence looking for evidence, potentially leading them to take the leap of faith (no pun intended).  I think he realized this, then trying to inject some personality into his conversation from a third-party perspective, which just made it feel forced and even worse than if he had not.

Despite that, the interviews are deserving of a 4-start rating and worth the effort it took to digest the material.

The first few chapters were hard to get through and I did not find their arguments very convincing but it picked up for the most part later in the book. Definitely gave me something to think about.
