Really good read a bit repetitive at times but super interesting, very compelling, very sad but a very necessary history to hear about

this book was on an interesting and important topic and i did learn information that i hadn’t known previously, but it read more like a textbook/thesis than a non-fiction book and was difficult to get through, despite it being a relatively short read. it was very repetitive. i did appreciate the afterword and hearing the author’s personal connection/experience related to the text.

Medical Bondage is informative but reads like a textbook and is distractingly repetitive with concepts and phrases. I was a bit confused by the organization of the chapters as well.
This is the first book I've read on this subject so I don't know how it compares to others like it. Still, I think it was a decent starting point for learning about this very important and horrific part of history.

This book covers the enraging and shameful history of gynecology in relation to the women who suffered for its advance: enslaved black women and immigrant women. The atrocities that occurred were torturous and steeped in heavy racism and misogyny. Very detailed, informative, and often difficult to read due to the subject matter and how angering it is.
