After a four year hiatus I finally decided to pick this back up and finish it in time for the new tv drama that's starting next week.

I'm glad I got back to it, it's another example of why King is among my favourite authors.

Figured I’d give King another try, but he’s still not for me. Relieved to be finished.

This is a rare book that I feel compelled to leave a review about because no one else is commenting on it much, but Sadie the main supporting female character was such a woman written by a man situation. She took up nearly half the book but she had no fucking personality. All she liked doing was smoking ciggies and having sex with him. And joining in with his dumb sex/dessert innuendos. Like what is it with men, even seriously applauded authors not being able to write a believable and compelling female character. It’s depressing!

Also what was it with the trying to make ‘dancing is life’ a thing when they barely even danced. It was some weird sentimental quote he was trying to make happen and it was not landing. Gave me very much ‘stop trying to make fetch happen!’

Loved it! Made me feel all the things.
The characters all felt so real and vibrant, as did the setting of the 1950s/60s. Really beautifully written.

A riveting storyline, exceptional historical research and accuracy, and a completely unforgettable/heart-wrenching/beautiful ending. A must read.

Wow! This book is long but worth the time! I was drawn into it by the premise of the story, going back in time and changing one thing in history. What would it take to get there, could you really know the world would be better, what little thing you did would cause such big ripples in the future? The story was fantastic and the love story was a bonus. I also watched the series on Hulu. It wasn’t exactly the same (of course), but it does the book justice. I like watching the movie or the series before reading the book; I don’t feel as let down by the movie/series in that order!
