I started really liking this book, but the longer I read (and it's a long, long, long book), the more I was bothered by some problems with this book:
- (Unnecessary) use of racial slurs and sexist language and the clearly white male perspective on those issues (in the past and present)
- There is too much happening with the characters, making the plot that the book is supposedly about, almost seem like an afterthought
- I really didn't like the protagonist..
- The ending.. (but that's to be expected I guess when you pick up a Stephen King novel)

But, I did finish it and there were parts that I was really enjoying it, but that doesn't make up for the story overall being underwhelming in the and, on top of the problems listed above..

Also, I read some positive reviews about the narrator of the audiobook, but I really cringed the way he portrayed the speech patterns and accents of certain characters, especially foreign, black and mentally challenged people.

Is it sad that I learned more about this period.of history from a fictional time travel book than my history classes?
Either way, I enjoyed learning some of the history along the way. For how long it was, it stayed pretty compelling the whole time.

It wavers between being hard to put down and hard to keep reading often enough to feel like I'm getting whiplash, and the time traveling aspect could have been fleshed out a LOT more. Not his best but not his worst.

have to admit when I first started reading this book I was very intimidated. The version that I started reading was over 1,000 pages long and is the longest book I’ve ever read. At the beginning, I wasn’t a fan of the writing, mostly due to it, taking so long to get to the main point of the book. However, as I started finishing the book, I started to understand why there was so much world building at the beginning, in order to come to the final conclusion of the story. Overall, I really enjoyed it and glad that I stepped outside of my comfort zone with this book.

One of the best books I've read in a while. Stephen King doesn't always stick the landing with his endings but here he stuck it with both feet.
