I like the universality and timelessness of this book. Other than the plot trick of the cellphone, we really don't need them....and this is the point of seeing family and cottages - to get away from it all, and just be together. I like how the author sets up the meeting through the funeral, how it ends up meaning uncovering partial truths about the family, but really that the cousins decide to stick together. The book feels well-planned, but with many voices in the alternating first-person narration, it's hard to get to know them. I'd say it's a solid book but it didn't rock the depths of my soul.
