A fun little comics collection. I'd seen a few of the strips floating around online, so I was happy picking up a collection. As a whole, they're pretty funny. The art is simple but effective. The jokes are generally pretty good, regularly drawing chuckles or smiles from me as I read them. Pie Comics doesn't seem to be a front-runner in amazing webcomics, but it's fun and was an enjoyable little read.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

So I wasn’t at first sure if I wanted to read this book, I was curious, but it wasn’t until yesterday, when the publisher posted a page from the book, that I wanted to read this book.

I am more than happy that I finally decided to read this, it was absolutely brilliant. We have some recurring themes (like the king, the pages in between the comics (though I lost track of how that one went), the creation story, unicorns, death), but there are also a ton that only pop by once (or maybe I was too teary-eyed from laughing). All the comics are hilarious.

The comics feature zombies, wolves, ghosts, princesses (sorry, your princess has already left this tower), sheep (what if a sheep doesn’t look like a sheep?), superheroes, did I mention Steve Buscemi?

The zombie apocalypse one on page 89? So me!

There was also one choose your own adventure. A very short one, and um, well um, that ending. I love that you can make it as short as you want (just two panels) or try to make it much longer by not going into the cave.

Of course, I had to share these with my fiance, he is at work while I am sick at home, so I spammed his Whatsapp with many of the comics. I do wonder if he is still in his chair after all the comics, or if he died from trying not to laugh too hard at his work. 😛

The art style just fitted perfected with the weird and silly stories.

All in all, this is one comic I need in my life, and I hope that John McNamee makes more comics.

'Goldilocks and the Infinite Bears: A Pie Comics Collection' by John McNamee is a book collecting some funny comic strips with quirks at the end.

The subjects are various fantasy characters among others. There is Robin Hood, the frog prince and, of course, Goldilocks, who breaks in to the bears house and finds infinite bowls of porridge, a punishment for porridge thieves. In one, a man wants to combine the powers of Thor, Green Lantern and a werewolf. The twists are where the punch line lies. The oddness of them makes them pretty funny.

I've read another collection by this author. The art is pretty simplified, but suits the humor well. The real draw here is the humor where the odd and dark punchlines jump out at the unsuspecting reader.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Oni Press, Diamond Book Distributors, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

This was so funny and exactly my sort of thing! I wish this had been longer and I loved the mix of cult classics and more generic themes. Overall this was brilliant and I need more!!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an eARC in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.

“Pie Comics began as a college comic strip way back is the mid '00s, when flip phones roamed the earth. But it wasn't until a shoulder injury forced John to simplify his drawing style and improvise the comics instead of actually sitting down and writing them that Pie Comics became the beloved strip it is today!”

I’ve never read or heard of Pie Comics, but I wish I’d found them sooner! I was expecting a graphic novel with a plot, maybe a retelling of Goldilocks, and it seems like lots of people who have read this thought the same. This was almost better than I thought it would be. It’s just a collection of adorable and hilarious comics. Each comic was wonderful and just my kind of humour, with the cutest illustrations. I would absolutely love to read more from McNamee because I loved this collection so much!

2.5 Stars - This collection of comics didn't really impress me.

Out of the entire book, only 3 comics made me laugh; the Harry Potter references didn't even get a giggle out of me. To say this wasn't my sense of humor is an understatement. Additionally, the art style was almost too simple. I can appreciate the effort that went into this book, but it just wasn't for me.

Thank you to the publishers who provided me with an ARC of this book through NetGalley!

After a day of reading indie comics about indie comic writers who were too depressed to write indie comics, this was a welcome change. Brief spins on clichés and tropes. Humor is always subjective, but I found myself laughing several times at this collection.

I recommend it for fans of Tom Gauld, people having a succession of bad days, and ducks who look like Steve Buscemi.

This collection of short, comics that have been online before has simple drawings, but not simple humor. Sometimes the humor is stubble. Sometimes it hits you over head. Some strips are funnier than others. But, quite a lot are laugh out loud funny. These images below are not the funniest. They are just funny random ones I picked out The whole book is 130 pages long, of which most of these are the aforementioned cartoons.

These cartoons are pretty timeless, as they are caught up in humor from revisiting old fairy tales, or common legends, or Genesis.

If you find these humorous, you will enjoy the whole book If you find these offensive, then don't bother picking it up, as there are quite a bit more of the same.
