An Interesting Adventure in Hierarchy Correction

The Severed Ties series presents obstacles that leave you, as the reader, wondering what will be thrown at Cleodora next. The plot revolves around the FMC and her mates attempting to dismantle the former Dragon Queen’s corrupt- and down right evil- agenda. It’s action packed but also has a heavy dose of political combat as well.

Things I Loved:
-The overall plot was very interesting, especially the use of magic within the story.
-The rejected mates trope is revitalized in dark and interesting ways for Cleo.
-The Harem has a variety of traumatic backgrounds but not all of them are still fighting to overcome that history.
-Brenton! A dragon shifter with high family values who loses his mind each time Cleo has to face danger?? Absolutely wonderful!

Things I would have liked to see more of/done differently:
-While I loved Brenton’s character, all of the mates read as very surface level. Even with the details we learned of their lives, they pretty much existed to be Cleo’s mates in the story. They lacked the depth I would have liked to see, only reacting to Cleo and the dangers around her.
-Harem bonding. Four mates with a lot of trauma and trust issues to deal with? We needed some face time with the four of them that revolves around them working together to help solidly their bonds. Even in the epilogue a year after the conclusion of the story they haven’t made the full steps to becoming a family instead of just four men bonded to the same woman.
-Magic training. It’s mentioned a few times that Cleo needs to practice with her magic to get better at negating the side effects she faces from using it, yet nothing happens. Sure, they’re facing a lot of threats and she’s a Queen with a very busy schedule, but showing her at least taking fifteen minutes a day to focus on working with her magic better would have made the magical components of the final battle a lot more smooth.

Great book

It's a great book with a very interesting plot, except that very other darn page was a sex scene. Now don't get me wrong I love a steamy book but it got to where I was just skipping pages. This book would probably be half the pages if you cut out the steamy scenes.

It’s the finale of Cleo & her men, book 3 doesn’t disappoint with the action & steam, and so much growth!

We start with a prologue and witness Canaan losing his MIND, it’s just a short snippet into his brand of crazy. We start bang… quite literally and some dark magic, cause why not just let chaos reign for a bit right?

Without giving away too much, I honestly LOVED seeing the back & forth with the guys & Cleo. Both with her protecting them and them attempting to protect her. All the while, trust, issues from the past & realizing that what they all do is out of love and not wanting to lose the other. I was PLEASED beyond belief with that scene with Brenton, and when Baron came in so they could.. have fun together?

Whew a double B sammich? Yes please I’ll take that
