ok, but the way this book has made me emotionally distraught. I am beginning to understand now why this prequel trilogy is the crowd favourite. I stand firm when I say Cass Clare’s best books are her character-driven ones. the first 3/4 of the book did just that and really contextualised character motivations and emotions, an immediate 5 stars. my only disappointment was discovering that Will’s curse was nothing but a hoax which felt akin to the ‘this was just a dream’ plot device: disenchanting and sooooo unsatisfying

UPDATE: i initially gave this 3.5/4 stars because of how lowkey dense the plot was (nothing happened literally?) but when i tell that ending gave me the most unexpected brainrot during a uni trip LMFAO maybe im just insane. come to think of it, i think this actually is my favorite in the series? funny enough? the character moments were EVERYTHING walahi herongraytsairs are THE ship (throuple?) 

so uhm...yeah ig 2024 is the year i go thru a TSC era even tho i probably shouldve done that when i was 16 but better late than never ammiright!
