How have I not even rated this since I got on goodreads? I used to sit in my bed every night and read this book until I fell asleep. When I finished it, I started again. I must have read it 20 times in my life. I loved it each time. I cried each time. This is a favorite of mine; a perfect combo of laughter and sadness, all with the joy of pets and the realistic inclusion of family problems.

Fun book about the challenges, joys & sadness of living with & losing a pet. Grogan's writing is witty & smart. Pet owners will relate to the antics of Marley. Have the box of tissues ready for the end.

Grogan puts into words the beauty of the bond between humans and dogs. As he says on the very last page, “Dogs are great. Bad dogs, if we can really call them that, are perhaps the greatest of them all.”

Such an awesome book. Marley, the loopy Labrador “evader” is so much fun and such a wonderful “character”. Marley is a great example of how a pet is so much a part of the family, a part of us. John Grogan‘s writing is wonderfully engaging; I felt like I was romping around with Marley myself. I laughed so much while reading the book and I even cried quite a bit towards the end. A wonderful book. A must read for all pet lovers.

A light and fluffy read. I never cease to appreciate the bond between and man and dog. It was touching at parts, and sunny at most. It is not of the same depth or type as Old Yeller or Where the Red Fern grows, but it was a rewarding read which reminds us to cherish all the simple joys around us, amidst the crazy challenges in life.
