I still love this series! Unfortunately, the author of Book 4 continued the "hint of romance" thread and expanded it a little bit. Why would you take a perfectly fantastic book for advanced 3d grade readers and make it 5th grade and deprive the younger hearts of such a good story?

And the story? Fabulous! Adventure, puzzles, fear, respect, and the adults are still behaving as we would want them to. A good bit of heartbreak... and maybe one paragraph of non-romantic grade-5+ ethical horror.

Ready to download book 5!
Audiobook, beautifully done.

WARNING, SPOILERS! What a great read! I always thought that Rollan and Meilin should be a couple... Now my wish might just come true! Again, I wish it was longer.

I'm enjoying seeing their relationships develop, and the characters grow. The arctic ice crossing was not the most interesting thing in the series so far, but it was well done. I'm definitely annoyed at the bad guys, and am very curious to find out how they keep showing up like they know exactly everything our good guys know. The horrors these kids have seen is taking a toll, and I'm glad the book deals with that a bit.

Another fun adventure! This series continues to impress how the characters grow and yet remain true to their original personality even with different authors writing the next segment.
