Another fun entry. Though Reader was a bit one-note in this one :( But I love the pets.

This series is like so addicting and not because it's amazingly well written. Each installment is more outlandish and over the top but I can't help but get sucked into it. Kitty and her cohorts are larger than life but they don't take themselves seriously so you don't mind. In a world with supersoldiers, superbeings, and a crap load of aliens how can you not have a good time reading.

Oh, wow, this was a huge book! Both the number of words, and the events that happen! So fantastic to read, and I can't wait to read more!

After my initial disappointment in the previous book in the series it took me some time to read this one. This story is marginally better than the previous but still not as action packed as the first books. I think that the steps they made in the direction of a political carrier is not the best the author could have made. She narrowed down her character possibilities and freedom, since someone as a known politician can’t go around chasing bad guys, he/she only can help from the background.

Kitty and Jeff got used to their new role even if they are not the best in it yet, Kitty can sell anything if she puts her mind into it. But problems and catastrophes don’t avoid them just because they went into a different path, but the male characters think Kitty should stay in the talon, she should sit this one out. Why they thought that if they keep secrets form Kitty, the chaos doesn’t find her anyway is a mystery for me. She is the capital trouble magnet and usually she is the one who solves the problems anyway.

The plot is full of unexpected twist and humor which grabs the reader with the first page and doesn’t let go until you finished. It was an interesting development how Kitty handles the situation without Jeff on her side and I also loved her new powers. She is the boss. She proves that she is a force to be recon with by herself. She is even more resourceful than we got used to from her.

The book ended with a blast and a big revelation that will have consequences in future books and I can’t wait. With this the author opened up a new venue for her characters. I enjoyed it quite a bit and my belief got restored in Gini Koch magic.

The first 100 pages were a struggle to get through… Nothing captured my interest enough to want to keep reading but something about this series is so compelling to me. Each one seems to be nowhere near the best book I’ve ever read and some aspects of it are really obnoxious (particularly Kitty’s attitude in this book) but something keeps bringing me back to them. I will say at this point there are way too many characters and it’s rather overwhelming but these books are fun reads that are action packed and enjoyable.

So in this book we get more shenanigans in DC and a hell of a lot more aliens if you didn't catch it in the title. I still don't think that the switch in position for Kitty was the best decision. I think she would have still done better sticking to more field work. And keeping her out of loop was so obviously a mistake for this book that I'm still not sure why it was done. It literally had no purpose and Kitty pretty much figured everything out anyway. Obvs!

Anyway, there are new alien visitors in this book as well as a visit from some past megalomaniacs. I think the series has officially reached the point where there are too many characters and not enough attention is being paid to the AWESOME ones. I mean, there was barely any Reader in this book. That's just not right. But on a serious note, I'm able to keep most of the characters straight mostly because I'm reading the books relatively close together. If I were to wait a year to read the next one I can guarantee I would forget a majority of the characters that were in this book. I get that Kitty is the Head of Recruitment but there were just too many new miscellaneous characters in this one. The only characters that were in the majority of this book from the 'original' cast was Mr. Richard White (adorable gentleman), Naomi and Abigail, and the Poofs (lol). Everyone else didn't have as much "screen time."

I don't know. This may just be me missing more action and crime-solving. The only thing that made me give this book 3 instead of 2 stars were the last few chapters where we finally got some action. The author is bomb at writing the action scenes because you can vividly picture it in your head like a movie. Also, the one thing that really brought this book down the most for me was all the explanatory fodder. For example, there were many chapters that were mostly just explanations of the many detailed corruptions going on with the multiple bad guys in D.C. Then we get more fodder about the bad guys in outer space. There's just so much being explained, and not just about the bad guys. Nothing is really happening in the book except Kitty trying to get all the pieces together by "talking out loud."

I have the next book in the series already but like I did with the last one, I going to read a few books before I get back into this series. I approached this book months after having bought it because I had to remind myself of all the parts that I liked in the previous books. I will be approaching the next book in the same way. Overall, this is a good comfort read for me but because the books tend to run a bit long, I wish they had a bit more.

This series is just so much fun to read and this book is no exception. It's over the top as usual but I found I really loved Kitty when separated from Jeff & Chuckie. Don't get me wrong, I love the gang all together (and I really loved the rundown of whose everyone's Avengers counterpart was), but sometimes the dudes get too much into the macho posturing so it was fun to just have Kitty working through the disaster with the folks on hand. Plus the peregrines of course. I love the AC animals and the peregrines are a great counterpart to the poofs. Seriously, how awesome are the AC animals? I'm prone to be on the animal's side so I even loved Bellie.

As always there was nonstop action and humor. By now I love all the inside jokes, Christopher's "patented glare #whatever", Jeff's bellowing, the conspiracy theorists who are actually right.

I think the tone of this series either works for you or it doesn't. I think that's how it always is with humor. Personally I admit that I'm kind of tired of brooding, destructive superheroes so the fact that Kitty is delighted by her powers so that she can help save the world, and the people she loves, is so refreshing. If I have a complaint is that our cast it so big now I could probably use a character list or family tree or something to remember exactly who everyone is. But that's a pretty minor complaint compared to how much fun I had reading it.

This is my favorite one so far and it's because Koch's leading lady and her hubbies were rarely together. Generally, I find the mutually obsessive relationship tedious. In fact, not sure why I keep reading the series...
