The third installment of the Well Met series is easy to read as a standalone, but still features many beloved past characters. This time it's time for Emily's sister, single mother April, to fall in love. I think it was an interesting pairing to put her with Mitch, but I think things worked out well enough in the end. The plot was fun and I liked seeing their relationship develop, seeing April relax and step out of her comfort zone, but the character development felt a little precarious to me.

Mitch is what you might call a "reformed himbo" whose character gets a nice and much needed fleshing out. The only thing is, we never really get an explanation for 1) his previous lifestyle and 2) the sudden change in lifestyle. It just kind of happens and we're supposed to go along with it, but the lack of any real explanation weakens their romance to me.

April is a socially anxious single mother who refuses to get involved in anything, rejecting the people around her before they can reject her. It was interesting to see this explored and understand this new depth to our otherwise put together kick ass single mother, but it eventually started to feel like she was being wilfully ignorant of what she was doing. She would think about how she's done a bang up job with her daughter, and then refuse to get involved in things her daughter loved, then feel like she was rejected by the community because she didn't know things about her daughter's interests because she chose not to get involved. It was very circular and got extremely frustrating after a while. Not to mention her treatmemt of Mitch and ignoring her own feelings for him.

It's a cute book and fun read with a nice mother daughter relationship, but I think focusing some chapters a little more on Mitch and his inner workings with a dual POV would have really benefitted this book.

Absolutely inlove with this book and the author! It took me less than 48 hours to listen to it! Jen Deluca is amazing at what she does, her books suck you in and have you begging for more.

3.5 stars. I was looking forward to this book so much! I loved the pairing of April and Mitch. The age difference of April being older than Mitch was a nice change for a romcom, but April was very annoying about it (and other things) in her internal thoughts. Mitch is the sunshine we all deserved in this book and it probably would have been a better read if told from his perspective. Or at least a back and forth? He saved this story for me. This book lacked a lot of the Ren Faire element, which kind of makes sense given April’s lack of enthusiasm for it. It also lacked, for me, a lot of sexy heat that the first two books had, especially the first. Well Met will remain one of my favorite romance books and I look forward to reading Well Traveled!

This one surprised me so much! I wasn't sure I would love April and Mitch's story, but it surprised me with so much heart and fun. Hijinks include a single mom, fake dating, kilts, home renovation, and a protagonist finding herself again. Also, I really love Jen's dedication to having protaginists who don't want kids. A rarity in romance!

This book had been going pretty well until those last few chapters. I'll clarify that this was never gonna be a five star read from me, but the banter and chemistry between April and Mitch was pretty good and I found myself really engrossed in the story. And then we get to the conflict in the last few chapters of the book (something that I've come to predict in Jen Deluca's books) and oh my god, I was so freaking annoyed with April. I understood her hesitations and wanting some space to think things through, but she was such a poor communicator with Mitch. She never actually says she needed those things to him, but gets mad at him for not giving her what she needs and made comments to Mitch where he was most sensitive. I was so mad at her, it ruined the ending for me. So unnecessary.
