Our Dreams at Dusk is probably my queer bible. It gives multiple perspectives of queer individuals and all done with the greatest care and empathy. it's clear that the narrative takes on a non judgmental observation (because how can one judge people trying their best to carve out happy lives in a world that is adamant in making this impossible for them) there is no one, or "right", conclusion to being queer- we're all on a constant journey of growing and trying our best.

It shows the anger, fear, resentment you bury deep inside. Sometimes you just want to SCREAM all sadness, frustrations, and joy. However, despite all the trials and tribulations that comes with the lgbtq+ experience, Our Dreams at Dusk also shows happy moments of queer joy and finding your own community and self acceptance. Maybe the world may not want you, but that should never stop you from loving and being happy/content with who you are. It's a painful thing to deny oneself identity, and accepting yourself despite what everyone else thinks is the greatest defiance.

Even if we can't understand each other, being able to make our way through life together is still a worthwile thing.

Damn, this series is KILLING IT with getting across the daily struggles of people in the LGBTQ community. This was a particularly hard hitting volume, but incredibly important not just for its message but Tasuku's growth. The artwork was phenomenal and the combination of whimsical imagery and paneling enhanced the emotions of significant scenes. This is a great series that I'm glad I continued with and so damn important. I'm really looking forward to the next volume after that cliffhanger!
