I love S.E. Smith but this is not good start to a new series. The story had an intriguing premise but a predictable path and in most cases the journey is still nice. This was not the case for the Beast Prince. it was well written but the story was very bleh. It's not a long story (50+ pages) so character development and plot twists aren't possible but I've read tales that offer a good story in a few pages. Maybe the future books will be longer and offer more story but this was not a great start.

This was a very, very short read but an enjoyable one. It was quite different from the other books I've read by this author, but it was just as fun.

Lisa was adopted when she young after being found just wandering around alone. Her family is a loud bunch but she loves them. Even so, she still feels like she needs to find the place where she actually belongs. And one night while playing a game with her family, she unknowingly finds it.

Sharden is a cursed prince that turns into a werewolf for three days every full moon. When his parents turned away a pregnant witch, it was him that suffered her wrath. But he was told by another witch that the cure for his curse could be found at a specific place and time. That would be Lisa when she walks thru a doorway to a ruined building and into his world.

Obviously being so short, the story goes fast and there are time skips. And its only a matter of two days before they fall in love with each other. Two days! But it's a fairy tale and a sweet one at that. Both of their characters were believable (though Lisa was SUCH a positive thinker it was crazy) and it was satisfying how they get their happily ever after. With a neat little twist at the end.

A retelling of beauty and the beast that barely reaches the level of so-so.
