I know this is book is controversial, but by reading all the aghast reviews of the sex scenes beforehand, I was prepared for a much raunchier tale. I really enjoyed this "what-if" story and honestly, she (and the American public) may have been in a better place had Hillary never married Bill!

54%. It was super awkward in the beginning reading steamy scenes between two public figures that are still alive. About a quarter of the way through the book became interesting but I had one day to return and 46% left to read. It wasn’t worth staying up at night to finish it.

Loved this! I had to stay up to some ridiculous hour this morning to complete it. I had to keep reminding myself this was a work of fiction. I’d be really keen to know what both Hillary and Bill Clinton think of this novel. Interested to read some other work of Curtis Sittenfeld.

Reading this I felt more uneasy than I expected to. Seeing the alternative future play out, but with startling familiarity, left me feeling a little disoriented. What actually happened. What really didn’t. How might we all have been different? How might we have stayed exactly the same?

I really truly believe that Hillary would have been able to go farther if she had not married Bill so I was very excited for this book. Unfortunately this book was not what I was expecting and I did not enjoy it maybe because I had such high hopes for the book. I also have ethical issues with the idea of writing basically a fan-fiction on a real person's life even though they are quite famous.
