Body Art by Blood Bound Books, Kristopher Triana

I really disliked the writing in this book. It felt simplistic and awkward, especially in the sex scenes which were awful. The gore scenes were alright though I imagine they will increasingly start overlapping with the sex (not usually something I'd count as a negative).

The characters ranged from unlikeable to intensely irritating and unlikeable. I lost interest in them pretty quickly as their motivations felt cartoonish. As I was reading I would dread chapters being from certain perspectives. This book is meant to be over the top but it just didn't work for my personal taste. The way the characters thought about other people was oppressively disgusting in a way that didn't feel like it was doing anything interesting narratively and obviously I didn't complete the book so it may have become more clear later, but I really just wasn't enjoying reading it so I don't feel the need to push through.

Unfortunately I only got to see a hint of the speculative element in the prologue so I don't know if that would have changed how I felt about the book. Maybe I'll come back to it another time but I can't emphasize enough how much the prose put me off.

Ok, I’ve finished the read.

I cannot do justice to this book with an attempt at a review, because I usually don’t know what the fuck I’m talking about anyway.

I could use the usual words, like morbid, depraved, extreme, but why? You aren’t going to read this book on accident.

I’ll try to sum up the trip that Mr. Triana takes you on with one word. Transcendent.

I hesitated before giving this 5 stars, but only because it probably red-flags the FBI.

I loved this book from the first page to the last!

It was so disturbing, depraved, gory and just pure evil in some scenes. Truly horrifying on so many levels, the gore and depravity were really extreme, but the story behind the gore was complete insanity.

A great extreme horror book with a paranormal twist that I won’t forget anytime soon.

This one started off quite promising, but I'm not a massive fan of the direction it headed in. The supernatural elements to it just kind of ruined it for me. This is my first from this author but I've heard good things so I'll try another at some point soon.
