Oddly compelling
With a Superman vibe (or maybe daredevil?) this romance is a mystery wrapped in darkness, with more questions than answers and a past that is creeping ever closer.

A book trying to be everything but what the blurb suggests.
Dramatic scenes littered throughout without warning or sufficient build (and often without explicit explanation) so reader must read between the lines. (sometimes good, not good when you're reading about an attack and it takes a while to notice it's a stabbing and not just someone collapsing out of breath)
Vigilante? C'mon now.
Character of heroine didn't ring true either;
If you're closed off and don't usually open up, you don't let your guard down after 1 day of meeting a random guy.
(source: experience).
And the ending? Weak. Cliffhangers are one thing, but to have a whole book without some answers is just not fair to your audience. It read like the build up of a novel, but with the climax being in book 2.

Made of Steele by Ivy Smoak @ivysmoakauthor.
I listened to this #audiobook & it was excellent! Loved it. I can't wait to get to the next book. Poor Sadie is having a hard time. ðŸ˜

Lol vigilante.
I feel bad giving a book 1 star, I know the author put a lot of thought into their words they wanted us to read. I got through the book, cringing the whole time, but got through it so settled for 2 stars.

This is... not good. It's soooooo innocent?? Like, a 15 year old writing about sex and being smitten for the first time kind of innocent?? Like newbs to romance on Wattpad, like THAT kind of innocent. It's not bad per-say, it's just a lot of... Female Lead BS? Like all she has to do is breathe and everything works out exactly the way it supposed to simply bc she IS the female lead. She gets the guy, then gets the guy, then gets them again. She falls into an effortless and perfect friendship effortlessly and everyone else in the story/ plot are all cannon fodder to serve as a catalyst for growth or pain. Pain- which by the way feels like the author is doing their best to strong arm your sympathy into liking her depthless Mary Sue character. Not for me. Very Kiddy.

Book ended on a cliffhanger. Not invested enough to read the other two books.

There are some major plot holes here.
I don’t know much about the witness protection program, but I am fairly certain that they don’t just give you a new identity then BOOM release you into society the same day? Like she JUST got a new identity AND started a very busy public college in like the same day? Don’t they have to give you time to absorb your new identity??
Next: So the guy who hurt Sadie, Dan, I think. Dan is in prison right now, yet Sadie still has bruises? That means that he hurt her recently, say, within 2-4 weeks. And there is no way that a man would be serving time for a crime committed a mere 2-4 weeks ago. The criminal justice system does not work that quickly. He would be in jail awaiting trial for much longer than that.
