Great fun, even if the last two stories are... not typical Rick and Morty stuff.

The second volume of Rick and Morty's comic adventures really takes the whole "infinite timelines" thing and runs with it. Here, Rick and Morty find themselves on a world where an alternate version of Morty is an evil overlord and Rick doesn't exist. It...kind of goes how you'd think it would, assuming you're a fan of Rick and Morty. Also featuring a bonus "Ballfondlers" comic, which is....again, exactly what you'd expect.
Rick and Morty remains one of the most intriguing, original, and, frankly, crass franchises out there and it's kind of a relief to know that the comics hold up almost as well, if not as well as, the animated series.

Rick and Morty retreat to a dimension that never had a Rick, adventures ensue. My favorite issue was the Christmas special where Rick and Morty enter a dimension that celebrates Blumbus instead, a much darker creepier version of Christmas.

Just like the show.
I was dreading the 4th issue in this trade paperback, "The Ball Fondlers Special" because it was a spin-off of Rick and Morty (a TV show they were watching), but it was actually hilarious, I laughed out loud really hard a couple of times.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Rick’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick’s existential catchphrase “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂
And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎
