I wasn't too partial to this book. It started out with some fascinating characters and an interesting plot but as soon as the mission was started it went downhill, mostly because of the annoying little lordling twat who I couldn't stand. I never found any character worth continuing the series for, they either seemed naive or evil, neither with any redeeming features. This book is heading back to the used bookstore on my next trip.

A one-and-done fantasy read for me - this is the kind of fantasy writing that doesn't believe in contractions, if you get my meaning, and that's not really my jam these days. There's a lot of stuff like "it is madness to tarry" and figures "running hither and thither in fearful confusion" - I mean, I don't know, man... if you like it, that's cool.

I received an ecopy from the publishers and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I recieved a free ARC from Netgalley.vom in exchange for my honest review.

I'll keep this one short and sweet. There were moments when I got lost in the story, and then it seemed like the author sabotaged his own self. The story was so drawn out that I dreaded picking it back up each time I set it aside. The storyline was just so disjointed and most of it was pointless.

It took me a while to get into this book, but once I did, it was fantastic. I can't wait to read the next in the series.
