i had a hard time connecting the stories but after analysis a lot of the little details come to light and it’s very intriguing to me how everything is connected. this book is for a specific audience but can emotionally impact anyone. it makes you want to tell your mom you love her and learn her entire life story :( the characters all have their faults but that’s the point; this book is meant for reflection.

This book is a work of art. A poetic prose style deeply indicative of the way Chinese Americans piece together the world around them. The stories contained are short and poignant that keep the plot gripping and fluent. The stories also feel so real as if they could have been someone’s life written in a journal. Deeply personal, moving, and perfect in its description of the challenges of being a second generation immigrant and a first generation immigrant parent. I adore this book and would recommend it to anyone.
