After the first few pages I wasn't sure I was going to like it enough to finish it...a few more pages in and I couldn't put it down.

Honestly, despite how weird it is, and how much I dislike birthing scenes/pregnancy talk, this book is pretty freakin brilliant. It's a 200-page allegory about lust and obsession. It's about finally feeling control over your own actions. It's about an odd witch doctor father-daughter pair who heal townspeople they call "Cures." It's SUPER fast-paced, and you must pay attention to every page. I'm really glad I can add yet another "weird" book to my list!

This was so confusing. The premise was so interesting, Ada and her father are healers, but they aren't human. They're something perpetual and ageless and live on enchanted grounds. But, there were so many unanswered questions and I constantly felt like I was missing something?

Ok someone let me in on this joke? This is the highly rated book I've seen everywhere as haunting and brilliant. This was pretty ideas, that had no payoff. I barely know who Ada the main character is or why she is able to heal cures (humans).

This short book all seemed like it was leading somewhere, but the ending left me barely more informed then I was in the first chapter. I finished it because it was a audiobook, but I do not recommend at all. It reads like a short story that was extended into a novella without being fleshed out. No one was likeable and I still want someone to tell me what the point was because I genuinely do not know.
