This was a dud for me. I felt like the dialogue was very forced and unauthentic, and I could never attach myself to the characters. I never got interested in them or the story.

I honestly don't know where to start with this review. I absolutely loved it. Despite having children and a toddler running around I picked it up read at every opportunity I got. A perfect blend if gritty crime and magic.

The main character is sarcastic and charming and the writing gave him depth. All the secondary characters were unique and added a lot to the overall story.

The plot itself was well written and devised.

The first description of the Eternal (Fae) Realm was imaginative and very well done. I felt like I could see it in my minds eye as if it was a real place. I was in awe and wonder just like Goethe as he explored the world around him.

An absolutely amazing read, perfect for crime and fantasy lovers alike. I cannot wait for the sequal!

100% recommended.

This is not the type of book I generally read. Supernaturals fighting crime in the mortal world. But the Women of the Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong hooked me years ago and when Michael Darling wrote Got Luck, I had to read it too. After all, I've known Michael for over 25 years. Despite that, this is an honest review.

Got Luck. An uncommon name for a man. But he's an uncommon human. Well, not really human. He's a halfling and is thousands of years old. And the son of the fae king. Only he doesn't know any of this in the beginning. As a private investigator, he's hired by a woman to find her husband's killer. And this changes Got's life forever as someone immediately tried to kill him. Within a day, he gets married in the fae realm and then has to save both the fae and the humans from destruction. Oh, and learn how to use magic.

I enjoyed Got's humor. He's funny. He's sarcastic. And he uses it to his advantage. Michael mixes the right amount of the humor with the tension of Got's task. For his fist novel, Michael hits everything perfectly. I highly recommend you read Got Luck. And I'll sit back, waiting for the sequel.

I am going to start this review doing something I have never done before. I want everyone to know that I LOVE the cover of this book.

Now that I got that out of my system, onto my review.

I liked Got Luck. It was fast paced, full of twists and turns and surprises with every page, which made it exciting to read because you didn’t know what was going to happen next. It took me exactly one day to read this book, in one sitting. Not easy to do with three kids but it happened.

As I have stated in previous reviews, I loved anything Celtic, and this book didn’t hold back. It had the Fae, and the author made many references to Goethe’s poem, “Der Erlkonig.” If you want to know more, read the book.

The ending was a bit of a surprise and had a twist in it that made me sad. Again, if you want to know what it was, read the book!!!!!

Will, I reread this book? Yes. I would love to know if there are going to be more in the series!!!

Would I recommend this book to family and friends? Yes.

Age range? Teens on up.
