Although it took a minute for me to properly get into the book once I got past the initial absurdity of the premise I had a wonderful time reading the book.

It has a cast of lovable characters and the narration was completely hilarious and added to the absurdity of the book but in a good way.

I had received this book from owlcrate and I'm so happy I did! I had considered buying it before but wasn't really sure i would be into it. turns out I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would! I was interested from the beginning and I was truly rooting for Jane, Gifford, and Edward.

3.5 stars! Do not think this means I disliked it! I loved the satire, the old London setting, the royalty and the arranged marrige. I did noooot love some of the characters, and the somewhat-lazy plotting. It had such a promising start, I thought it'd be a five-star from me. But then! It kinda deteriorated a little. However, I'd still recemmend for anyone who's been having a hankering for Medievel London, or comedy, or just a touch of (kinda-weird) magic. Or even just a novel that doesn't takeitself too seriously. I just don't know that I was fully in the mood for it, and there were just a few things that kinda... diminished the experience for me.

All done!
And what a ride! ^_^ It was a lot of fun!
I've always been (morbidly?) fascinated by the story of Jane Grey and this re-imagining really feels like this is how things SHOULD have happened.
Will be continuing with MY PLAIN JANE excitedly! :D

This was such an amazing retelling. This period of royalty drama in England was already interesting as is but this tops the bar. It was hilarious and brilliantly written. The idea was so well executed that I have never found myself lost and bored even though I had to put this down and pick it up again too many times in a span of weeks. I loved the characters. I loved the narration. The descriptions were so vivid that I could feel the lushness of the setting. It's as if I was watching the director's cut with funny narrations here and there that just makes you laugh too hard and soundlessly or guffaw and clap your hands to your chest. This has instantly become my favorite read of the year. I ship everyone too. I adore the snide. 5/5 would recommend!

4.5 stars. A delightful romp, this book reminded me a bit of Monty Python, and a bit of the TV Show Reign. However, it’s unique brand of humor and alternate angle on history made it something all its own. I realized how few humorous books I read; but, I enjoyed this immensely and will continue with the series. The only downside was one particular scene, in the last quarter of the book, that seemed to work against the feminist approach for which the rest of the novel spoke.

I loved this book! It was hilarious, the story was interesting and I was slightly informed (I mean it is kind of historical fiction) and yes (she sighed begrudgingly) I loved the romance as well. All in all, a fun read and definitely something I would recommend! 4.5 stars
