This book deals with heavy themes of violence towards women so be cautious about reading it if you’re a survivor of abuse.
That said, I found this to be very enjoyable but a confusing read. There’s very little, if any, explanation as to what is happening & how or why beyond the basics that are spelled out in the blurb on the back cover. I’m not writing it off, though, and hope it was the intention of the author as they do more world building than plot explanation (as a lot of it seemed intentionally vague when dealing with the characters) in their first volume. I’m excited to read more and hope I’m right and that we’ll get thorough explanations in future issues. I didn’t have a problem with the art style and enjoyed it. I appreciate that it is a woman written and illustrated comic about powerful women. I just hope we get to learn more about them soon, otherwise this just may be a lot of lost potential.

OK so wonderful idea and there are a lot of elements to this novel, which is great because it shows that there is more to come however there are quite a few of those elements that make for a confusing story and I had to flip back through the pages a few times to try to make sense of *SPOILER* nancy taking over one of the witches bodies, also why did is there a random sex scene set in the 1600's? It had no purpose because the next scene was Nancy's ghost int he body of a witch it was just urgh, why?! thats all I can say, but I mean it does look like a promising book that will develop with the more publications, which I will continue to read, I just think as a first vol there are some gaps that maybe cant be filled.

Not bad but not great.
All a little flat and one dimensional.
Sadly nothing that would make me want to go back for more.

Not what I was expecting, but a fun read and I will be looking for the next volume. I live near the Redlands, and so had expected the witches in this book to be herbalist, goddess worshiping witches. Actually, these are the daughters of Satan, blood orgy kind. My mistake! But nevertheless the story was interesting enough.
Some reviewers have complained that all the men in the book are rotten, which is not true. The witches have several men on their side, who are flawed but far from villains. The non-witch women have bad things happen to them, but most manage to strike back at least a little. And the three witches both enact vengeance against people who wronged them, and remorselessly prey on the innocent for their own purposes. I felt like there was more character development than other reviewers have claimed, although it is true that a lot is done by inference and I'm sure quite a bit is left for future issues. It does jump around in time and the plot isn't really clear until halfway through, but it is interesting and done well.

Art style = impeccable
Story line was so intricate and complicated that even though I got a bit confused, I'm definitely coming back for more!
