The poet Bashō, for various reasons, sells his cottage as hits the road with his friend Sora, a fellow poet. The Narrow Road to Oku is a travel journal describing the sights along his journey, illustrated by poems.

I enjoyed it. Bashō's walking trip is peaceful and quaint. This edition was illustrated by the artist Miyata Masayuki.
