When I find free books on the iBooks store on for the Kindle, I always download the first book in the series. That way I can know if the series will be any good. I've made that mistake with a book before. But this book was something else. I wanted to cry with Piper for the heartache that she went through and I also wanted to strangle Tanner for being such an idiot. Maybe it's because I graduated college a couple of years ago and I'm only 26, but I definitely felt I related to them in a sense that I still have no idea what I want to do (even though I have a job), love might not be worth it even though the person that you're with is right for you on paper (Piper and Curtis), and I still don't tell my parents everything (Piper and her parents/ mom).

The editing is so terrible it was hard to really even get into the story. Did that affect my feelings toward the characters and story? You bet.

piper and tanner have a love of a lifetime, it just takes them a few years to get there. i always like friends to lovers stories and this is no exception. their chemistry is hard to deny no matter how much piper's brother makes her think they can't be together. their story had a few good twists that were unexpected. both characters were good to the bone - there was no reason to dislike either one of them.

overall, this was a pretty great read that i hope we see more of...brad's story is going to need to be told, as is bea and dylan's story :)

I loved this book!! Totally drew me in and didn't let go. Piper and Tanner annoyed me with some of the things that they did but in the end it is all explained and gives insight to all of their actions. It was sweet and beautiful but had just enough mixed emotions to create the perfect amount of conflict.

3.5 stars for this one, the idea of it was great, the characters themselves were ok but the storyline just didn't flow like it should have, little details missed, some parts feeling rushed. In the end it was a sweet romance of sorts but nothing to blow your socks off.

Just wasn't great. I liked the last half much better than the first half. Almost gave up.

So this read - 2/2/21 - is a reread for me. I did enjoy it, as much as i did the first time i think but i found the lack of character development underwhelming... There wasn't a whole lot of plot but I enjoyed the back amd forth between Tanner and Piper

i thought the pacing was choppy; the first section seemed unrelated to the rest of the book since piper shows no sign of being sad about not being olympic material throughout the rest of it. and when tanner and piper break up in college, i thought i missed a chunk about why they broke up since it wasn't revealed immediately. i re-read those passages at least 3 times before realizing that the info would come out later to presumably heighten the intrigue.

was not a huge fan of the supporting characters. bea doesn't play a huge role, even though i wished the book was more balanced between bea and tanner. ben is an ass, though he slightly redeems himself at the end. and i feel like i should have been feeling dylan, but he came off as unmemorable and unimportant.

i also had a couple of plot issues. the synopsis and og reason why they couldn't be together was not at all the main part of the story, and was kind of shoved aside and used as an excuse instead of a real obstacle. and i also didn't appreciate why they broke up; why not tell piper what's really going on? brad, tanner and piper are supposedly close, so why lie to piper, too?

from the excerpt i thought this was going to be mushy ya fantasy (esp bc i'm a sucker for the brother's best friend trope), but i just didn't get those feels.

I am a sucker for "forbidden" romance, especially the cliché of best friend's sister! My soul needed a little fluff and cheese - and this was perfect. First, I was a bit scared though because I've came across some bad NA romances (like Teach Me). I was pleasantly surprised and finished the book in a day!

In the beginning of the book, Piper struck me a bit as too judgemental, but she won me over later on, when she realised she was too harsh in the beginning. (She was judging her brother's new conquest.) What I liked about Piper is of course her independence and a bit off sass. She's tough - a trait that I love in every heroine. Basically everything I am and hopefully will be. What can I say about Tanner? Hm... Well, he definitely has his way with words because I swooned. He is seductive, confident, a bit possessive - but not too much! I understand, where Piper's coming from . ;)

If you have been following my reviews for awhile, I hate insta-love. This relationship was developing for many years and that's why it's more believable and real for me. The story was well written with the time jump and a bit of a mystery that made me want more. (Hence no sleep for me, of course.) I am not a particular fan of too much unnecessary drama, which is exactly what I was looking for. My only problems were a bit weaker supporting characters (like the parents and Piper's twin) and the thing that drove Piper and Tanner apart for the first time.

However, I can definitely recommend this book as a relaxing, easy read that will make you fuzzy inside. It's not a earth-shattering-life-alternating book, but good nonetheless. So thank you, Ms Lynn for a nice treat - I'lll check some of yours other books.
