I love losing myself to a good poetry book. This is my first time reading any of Ai Qing's works, and these poems reflect on China's political history, and is laced with the poet's love notes to humanity and the land. Such a beautiful compilation of work, and breathtakingly well written.

some of the best poetry i've ever read. says a lot with a little and is surpisingly dense. the style takes some getting used to coming from western poetry (although there are still similarities), but it's so worth it.
