I loved this so much! This was such a beautiful story. This was a sweet fairytale full of whimsy, magic, and heart! I loved every character and every single page.

I loved this. Such a beautiful story, that really packs a punch. The messages about the human heart and family and sacrifice and making mistakes and even authoritarianism and mental health were really beautifully addressed in this book meant for preteens. That doesn’t take away from this book though. I would say it is precisely because it is middle grade that these topics can be addressed in such a perfect way.

This was a fantastic book! I was instantly engrossed in the story and became invested in all the characters and how they progressed. Towards the end I really appreciated how the author chose to portray the feelings of the parents of the Star Children and gave them hope and joy at knowing their children were loved and happy. While not an overt nod to adoption, being an adoptive parent myself, I really appreciated the sentiment.

Loved this. So sweet. So beautiful. Felt like a traditional fairy tale with a complete world and loveable characters and multiple plots that all come together. Obsessed with the very tiny dragon that thinks he is an extraordinarily large dragon.

I'm not totally settled on how I feel about this book but I do know one thing and that is that it's not a middle grade book. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who isn't at least in high school due to the heavy subject matter and graphic scenes that are in it similar to how the later Harry Potter books are middle grade but are honestly too dark for the recommended age for a middle grade reader.
