The kind of smart, subtle midcentury genre fiction I love, playing intelligently with possession and alien tropes. Especially interesting that Chocky is genuinely not a malevolent spirit - whatever's happening here, it's trying to help Matthew.

I really enjoyed this book. A little bit creepy, it’s an interesting exploration of the family dynamics and the concern of the parents for their son, and the sometimes sinister, sometimes benevolent presence “Chocky”.
