Interesting story. that once Henry met Clare he went back in time to meet Clare as a little girl. To learn about her; he loved her so much that he wanted to know about who she was at all different aspects of her life. Very sad about how Henry died; think it is good that Clare doesn't know that it is her brother and father.

I didn't love this book and would have DNF'd it except that I was reading this for a challenge. At first glance this seems like an epic love story, where the lovers are separated by time. But when you really dive into Clare and Henry's realtionship across the years it gets complicated and creepy.
When Henry time travels to Clare as a kid and teenager he's between 30 - 40 years old. He's such an all consuming part of her life that it feels manipulative. When she finally turned 18 Henry was like 42, oof that was an age-gap I didn't want to know about.  Even as adults, future-Henry meddles with present day Henry & Clare's relationship. These moments pose moral questions that the author casually skips over.

Okay I lied. I never finish reading this book. I never even reached half part of the book. Not because I don't like the book (my second lie; I don't like the book, honestly). I think this book was somewhat overly hyped. I can't find the beauty of this story. It's too sad but not the kind of sadness that is worth your tears (like if you read The Namesake). I just can' and will not finish this book. As a matter of fact, I might delete this book from my Kobo. It's been 1 year and I have not the slightest bit of will to read it again.

This is the rarest of the occasions for us readers and I'm not necessarily proud to say this but... The movie was better. I wouldn't have hung in there for 500ish pages otherwise. Neither of the MCs are likeable and made gross decisions which lead to making their love story, seem not quite that. That's a bummer.

I love this book! It's such a different plot and a very emotional love story. I wish we would have gotten a bit more about Clare at the end but it was a long story already. But I would still recommend to all my friends!

Took a while to get into but once I did I felt like I was plodding along to get it finished... Didn't enjoy so much.
