Well, well. This was definitely darker than I usually do, and touched many harsh subjects. I was thankful for the trigger warnings so I could prepare. But besides that, I couldn’t think of any reason not to adore this book.

I… do not know what to say about this. Not Another Love Song was not great but it was also not horrific, so I thought maybe going to a fantasy vibe would be better. Dear reader, it did NOT make it better.

The first maybe 25% was actually pretty bad. It got like, minorly better as it went? But I’m guessing that’s because the first 25% was primarily setting up this whole new book and the rest was falling back on what came out of the fanfic. The world itself felt shallow and so did the characters. The plot itself was mid.

Idk I’m guessing if you loved the source material you’ll probably be into this. I didn’t read it, so someone with 0 background on it will probably feel like this thing is pretty disjointed and messy.
