I haven’t read the specific fanfic this is based on, but I knew of it and frankly Im here in general for the genre of ‘Adapted Dramoine Fics’ to have its own sign in the bookstore.

The story beginning on a climax is a surefire way to hook a reader in. The author pulled this off wonderfully, I felt the destruction and the losses as if I had been with these characters for ages…but the book had just begun.

Once the dust settles from the battle, the surviving Evermores and their loyalists are sold into a type of slavery where their owners can syphon their magic and making themselves more powerful.
We see Briory struggle with her new fate, we root for her when she fights back, and we silently cheer her on while she’s plotting.

Oppression, rebellions, and slavery have been written about thousands of times but somehow this book just feels like a fresh (but still dark) take.
Amazing start to the Evermore series.
