Honestly a solid 4 stars.

I knew who the killer was the minute a certain chapter was read, but I was still shocked by the ending. It seems an outlier in Christie’s books in that it ends not with Poirot or a confession. It’s an interesting ending with an interesting character I would like to see more of.

I’m happy that Midge and Edward got their happy ending. And I’m not sorry about the murder bc it was justified imo.

did i like it? it was aight haha
would i read it again? no

this was a context read as I am currently in the stage version of this book. I happened to find the copy of the book at savers days before the initial audition, what are the odds? I thought it would be interesting to see how the book differs from the stage show and a lot of the dialogue is ripped right from the book on put in the script, but there are some other changes

also, this was my first legit adult murder mystery read! I had never read any Agatha Christie before... she's uh.... she put some uh... not so good language in there... like i think we all know what i'm talking about .... that lady kinda racist ...

anyway, yeah it was okay haha

This was an entertaining read but Poirot is very much at the periphery of the plot which surprised me. It also isn't really a puzzle mystery like most of the Poirot books but there are still enough hints for the reader to try and work out the solution. All the characters are unlikeable in one way or another which makes for a good closed circle whodunnit.
