Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson is a read that makes you reflect on yourself and the world/society we live in. This was not a light read at all, often it was hard for me to get through it which was surprising for myself as I usually can take triggering stuff. Please be aware of all the trigger warnings before you decide to pick up this book. It is beautifully crafted but one that is very dark to digest. I love how Laurie Halse Anderson didn’t make a love story Lia’s savior of the story. It was inspiring to see Lia be the savior of her own struggles and to show how nothing was easy to forget and forgive. The story was very difficult to take at times but it really is one that should be celebrated for its message.
