*MY THOUGHTS*
This book surprised me in both good and bad ways... Let's start with the good. I really liked the way Caletti went back and forth between the past & present. Clara's memories were my favorite part of the story. I think this was because this is where the danger of Christian was. I found myself swallowed up by those chapters, yelling at the book as if I were yelling at Clara herself. As for the bad, I was surprised that the only time I found myself wrapped up was when the fear of Christian was around. The chapters from the present weren't as engrossing as the others. But at the end, when Christian surfaced in the present, I was a goner. I also was torn between the "realistic-ness" of the situation. I felt after events like that there was no way anyone would move on as easily to Finn as she did. But, I did like the way Christian was portrayed and the realistic way she- a fool in love- kept letting him back in. This was definitely a nice way to come back to realistic fiction.

Stay is a lovely novel written by Deb Caletti, an author whose books I've read many of. This was my second time reading Stay, and this time, I realized how exquisitely Caletti carried out the book. Her words seemed to flow off the page like a cool breeze; that was how lyrical her words were to me.
As for the actual plot, I really liked it, especially since Caletti took the stance where stalking really is creepy, and nor hot or romantic like in Twilight. The ending felt a little iffy for me in the sense that it wasn't how I really felt the book should have ended, but other than that, I really loved Stay.
Caletti has a talent of making her characters seem real and believable, unlike Sarah Dessen. Although Dessen also writes YA realistic fiction, her characters come off for me as sort of superficial. They always have some kind of trait that makes me turn my nose up whenever I read about them. With Caletti's characters, though, I really get the relatable feeling with them and I am able to understand them much more than I do with Dessen's characters.

This one didn't grab me right away. Once it did though, I really enjoyed it. I did enjoy how the story went from present day to past, and back and forth. The topic of abuse is handled in a very responsible way. This book is very gripping at the end. This one is 4.5 stars for me.
