Engaging premise, but my interest waned as the pacing and worldbuillding felt increasingly disjointed. Also, don’t like the extremely strong paternalistic themes the initial character starts to portray.

I think this novel wants to be A Canticle for Leibowitz, or maybe Ozymandias. But it is not up to it.

I wanted to love this more than I did. I loved the premise of the book. However, I didn't enjoy the style of how the story was told. It was dry, and felt like a history book. I found myself picking up and setting the book down several times and it took me three months to finish reading it.
