Breaking Point follows the freshman year of Paul; a new student at the prestigious Gate school. He doesn’t seem himself “one of them”; the trust fund kids that masquerade around as students. When he’s not constantly annoyed by his mother; he’s calling his father in hopes of being able to live with him.

After Paul meets the infamous, Charlie Good, his life takes an abrupt change that he loves, until he doesn’t. (Spoiler, Charlie’s not so good)

I've called this "dark academia for beginners" due to the dark nature of most of the novel. While it was the easiest to digest; I have to respect the author for being able to approach these topics with the sad sense of realism you don't always see in young adult novels.

That said; this novel falls just short of 4 stars for me due to the the main character not being likable or interesting enough to keep me hooked. It was a pretty quick read so I wanted to finish it to see if there was payoff but feel that it fell a little flat. If the inside book jacket didn't let me know what the climax of the book was going to be, I probably would have been more glued to the book.
