‘The Tower’ by Camnus Johnson and Kelsey Barnhart with art by Chriscross, Loyiso Mkize and Andrew Dalhouse is a graphic novel about contestants trapped in a real life video game.
Cassandra wakes up in a strange place and is confused. Before long, she realizes it is some kind of arena where people are trying to fight and kill each other. The rules are unclear and need to be discovered quickly, like making allies and upgrading and using weapons. Also unclear is why this is all happening and what the endgame is.
As confusing as it is to the contestants, I found it equally confusing. I also found it unbelievable that someone with so little combat skill could survive for more than 10 minutes.
The art is fine, and the story reads quick enough.
