Oh my goodness, could there ever be a dafter book?

Here we see Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs try and track down an assassin-cum-psychopath (called the Coffin Dancer) so perfect that you think he could almost walk through walls.

He's been paid to kill 3 witnesses to a crime committed by an American illegal arms dealer, and spends a weekend trying to do what he's paid to do by the baddies in the book, while Rhyme and Sachs manage to nearly always thwart him at every turn.

The book is too daft for me to be honnest. No one is that good at their jobs, and while we're at it, the book reminded me of another, non-Rhyme book (I won't give the title away, it'll give away the plot twist).

I liked the book but there were a couple of things that take away from it. From a story standpoint it's a typical crime thriller novel so it's pretty much fine except for the twist at the end because it didn't see to lead up to it quite enough. I wish the seeds were planted more strongly so that when I get to the turning point I'm more in awe that I didn't put it together sooner rather than feeling like things were conveniently left out just to deceive me as the reader. Also, as the second in a series I think it led to too much background about the main characters early on but the good thing is that the stakes are always high during the book and none of the injuries or deaths felt like they were just thrown in to be shocking instead they are truly a part of the story. Overall I liked the progression of the story and it picked up steam nicely after a somewhat slow start.
