I've had this book since I was around 9 and I've read it so many times since. It's a story about the journey of Alexander the Great told from the point of veiw of Bucephalus his horse. I adore the way this book is written, I've read a lot of horsey books but this one is unique in its language. Also it's one of the few fiction books I've read with a reference list at the back, something I really appreciate. No matter your age I really reccomened this book it's a great story and as a bonus it's taught me quite a lot about that period of history. Also I have a thing for battle plans and war, of which there's quite a bit in here.

Although the story was fun and exciting, I sometimes felt like what I was reading was written by an 11 year old boy. The author clearly has an understanding of horse behavior, which I do appreciate. All too often, an author will write a book about horses that makes it seem like they've never seen a horse up close, ever.

Omg. I fell in love with this book in middle school when we had a read-a-thon and my friend let me borrow it. I can't get over how much I love it, despite the fact that I read it 8 years ago. I had forgotten about it, but in my Latin course I saw Macedonia on the map and I instantly remembered it. Probably will reread it again soon.

One of the staples of my childhood. An amazing tale of an incredibly interesting historical figure told in a really unique way.
