I think my favorite thing about this series is that the good guys aren't so high and mighty. And they're not above using their powers for a little self-gain.

I've enjoyed the previous books in the series but this one I just found a bit frustrating, it felt like the characters were going round in circles
Spoiler I just kept thinking that Darren should use the mind dimension to scout ahead- he was determined to get there quickly in the real world but he could have just gone to his mum's house in the mind dimension a lot earlier on, he'd have got there well before she got in the bath considering how much traffic there was

I enjoyed this continuation of the Mind Dimension series. It was slow to start, but I’m glad I stuck with it, because it really picked up around the middle. Looking forward to reading the final book in the series.

The Mind Dimensions Series (Book 0-4...meant to be read Book 1, then 0, then 2-4) -- Dima Zales

Happened upon this series as I was looking for books for my son to read. Everyone was absolutely raving about them and it's a bit sci-fi so thought he would be interested. However, I decided to read them first to ensure the content was appropriate. Good thing I did, because though most of it is very appropriate, there are a few scenes that get a bit graphic and we decided he is not quite ready for them. That being said...I can't wait until he is because they are superb!!! Couldn't put them down!!!

Ok...I have to be perfectly honest. The writing style really sucks at times. By this I mean that you feel like it was written by a high school student sometimes. However, if you can get past that, the story is amazing!! I couldn't get enough and was sad when it was over.

The basic premise is that there are two classes of humans in this world that us everyday people don't know about. They have special powers where they can stop time and live in what is called the Mind Dimension. How long they can do this depends upon their Depth or power limits. One class is called Readers. While in the Mind Dimension, they can read the minds of normal humans. Can you imagine the things you could do with this power??

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

this series has me super engaged, I just love it, I need to know what happens next, theyre so many plot twists in this one that I can wait.

I like how rich the story is while it keeps pretty real with the characters and the depiction of the situations seems to real that it made feel good or bad for them.

I really do like the style of Dima he knows how to keep you on track while detouring a little bit and surprises you with each line.

Im hoping to get until the end with series and know how this will end.

A thrilling adventure with so many twists and turns, all of which are exciting additions to the world of this series.

The previous novel's chunkiness is payed off incredibly well here; since its dense content finally gets the plot moving in this novel and it is all the better for it. There are few characters introduced in this novel which leaves the few main ones to both play a bigger role in this novel, as well as have revelations about their past be delved into with adequate time spent on every twist reveal this novel has. The twists are quite shocking however they still feel very appropriate due to them feeling like they'd be among inevitable consequences of a world with this magic system in it.

The foreshadowing from the previous novels and short story is where this novel truly shines. Most of the revelations in this novel were very well set-up and even the most minuscule details from previous entries leave the reader baffled with how well thought-out the storyline taking place in this series has been from the beginning.

The magic system yet again gets expanded upon, all while feeling built up to and a natural inclusion. Also the sense of how the protagonist choses to use his powers being very similar to how the reader would imagine themselves too using such abilities in those scenarios is abundant here, with even the self-indulgent and selfless acts being relatable.

This novel left me wanting more and has me waiting with baited breath to read the next and final entry into this book series.

4,5 stars. 'The Elders' will be read and not out of a sense of sunk cost at all but instead due to genuine excitement from me.

Upon rereading, I stand by my original review (five stars) but I have to add a caveat: Darren's commentary about women and female characters tends to cross the line from description and into oversexualization and chauvinism. I try to just ignore those parts and this is still an excellent book and series, but it can get very, very irritating.
