This book has reignited the love I have for the Kingsbridge series! The third book Column of Fire was only a four-star for me, however, The Morning and the Evening has been a joy to read. I'm so excited for the fifth book due to be published later this year

I loved revisiting King's Bridge, learning about the origins of the town I already spent hours of my life reading about. The story is easy to follow and the three main characters' lives are interwoven in a very skilful way. I feel like I learned slightly less about the historical period and certainly less about architecture in this book than the last, but I still throughly enjoyed reading this book and think it is much improved from Follett's last installment of the Series (Column of Fire).

The story is amazing, super exciting, but the sex scenes are written very poorly - unrealistic, cringy, ugh. Like there is a great build-up, and then the sex is so bad that it breaks immersion. The language is very simple and straightward, nothing fancy. You get a feel of how people lived in England at that time, which is a nice bonus. The book has nothing going for it except for the story, which is very exciting, a real page-turner. But then once you're done, nothing stays with you. I normally don't give high ratings to this kind of books, but it was so exciting that I couldn't put it down, so it seems only fair. All in all - recommend, it's a lot of fun, mystery, and adventure.
