I really loved reading this blatant Teen Wolf fantasy AU.

I picked this book up because the summary sounded so messy and I just wanted to read something fun and trashy. Imagine my surprise when I ignored the other 3 books I’m reading to binge through this. This book went down easy for me. This is the first polyamorous romance I’ve read and I think it was a great introduction to the trope. All three leads get their own section of the book so it felt like I got to know them all individually and the plot was certainly interesting. Solving a series of assassination attempts on the royal family? How fun!

This is Teen Wolf fanfiction pretending that it’s original. Obviously the AU elements make it original in a way, but I can’t stop seeing through the illusion.

The suspicion began mainly from the character names and associations:
  • Beacon Hills to Bekkon
  • Stiles to Symon
  • “John” to Jon, his dad
  • Melissa to Melisse, his step-mom
  • Scott to Darius, his similar-aged step-brother
  • Talia Hale to Tania Alloui, ruler of the shifters
  • Derek to Arven, direct male heir
  • Paige to Mersaighe, betrothed to the heir
  • Peter to Petur, the uncle in charge
  • Chris to Deyvid, the non-supernatural bodyguard and lover to the uncle
But then I went to check the physical description of Symon… he has moles and a snub nose. Normally that’s not enough to be definitive, but when you’ve read enough Teen Wolf fanfic, that’s like a neon sign for Stiles.

If I wanted to read fanfic, I would go read fanfic.

Another m/m arranged marriage political fantasy, this time includes a throuple. I feel like we only got sketches of the characters and didn’t go deep into their thoughts or goals. I may continue the series as they’re short and I appreciate the complexity of the world that’s being built.

Surprisingly enjoyable! I cannot Not pronounce Petur as Paytoor, but this was more than good enough for a 2 hour wait at the station.
