A well written book with such interesting characters. I feel like it was an eye opening experience esp to the pov of Alexithymia.

This was really good. Interesting concept, though provoking, fun, and the ending was amazing.

Almond is written by Korean author Won pyong sohn. It's a coming of age themed book of Yunjae, who is born with Alexithimya, a condition where he can't feel emotions like fear or anger. And his mother and grandmother are his constant supporters by helping him deal with everything but on his sixteenth birthday a violence changed his whole world and briefly after that he met his bully Gon and then gradually a different type of friendship forms between a person who doesn't feel anything and a person who feels everything more.
I liked the way how Yunjae interacted with his grand mother and she is the best character for me in the whole book. She is such a sweet and brave person and she calls Yunjae monster which would come off weird but there is a lot more to it when she said “And the most adorable little monster you are!” I liked the way story unfold and it's a fast paced book without much fillers to it especially the second half of the book and the way author explained how a person needs be heard especially when he is never given the trust he needed is explained in a beautiful and subtle way.
The translator did a wonderful job especially putting the dialogues of the person without emotions but the way the audiences can still be engaged and understood what he wanted to convey and she didn't translated it as a audience of the book as she didn't let her own emotions into but purely from the perspective of the author like the interactions between the Yunjae and Gon which have subtleties some my feel and some may not and which is translated perfectly.
