I love the continuity between books (not erasing Arthur’s broken leg, his evolving feelings of frustration, etc.) I like that Arthur is always given new companions to get to know and trust instead of it just being Suzy over and over again. No mark against her, she’s fun! But I think it deepens Arthur’s connections to the House that he always makes new allies in every realm he enters. (This isn’t a complaint but lowkey I wish Arthur had spent more time with Wednesday’s Dawn. Idk. I think it would have been funny.)
This time it’s pirates and the seas! Leaf’s involvement is a great addition to this book and I like the Will and the different approach Wednesday takes.

Okay, Wednesday was unexpected and, yet, so appropriate! No smooth sailing in this tail...er, I mean, tale.

I'm a Raised Rats fan. The Carp was so annoying. Suzy Turquoise Blue and Lraf ftw!

I agree with the other reviewers on this one. It was pleasantly different, but that didn't completely save it from feeling a bit like we were still treading water (bad pun). The world we are exploring is interesting, but not as captivating as the Harry Potter world, for instance. I'll stick it out to the end though, because I do want to know what's going to happen.

Continuing the Keys to the Kingdom series, this one was a little less solid feeling than the previous stories. I still loved a lot of the ideas and imagery and the setting created, but it felt less fully formed if that makes sense.
