The writing in this book was solid - however, there were a few passages that were worded a little weirdly and needed to be reread to understand, but this was not so prevalent in the book to make it unreadable or to hamper my enjoyment.
The idea of this book was very interesting, I found Mercerism very interesting and I wish the it was more expanded on and it was my favourite part of the book. The ending stuff
with Mercer
was very also interesting, but very odd, but it did make it difficult to fully enjoy the ending of the novel as it got a bit difficult to read on account of being very confusing at first.
The plot felt very lacklustre.
Like, why do they have a list of all the androids names if they are supposed to be so hard to find and why do the main characters know who they are instantly. It made the actual hunt of the androids really boring to me as it felt completely bereft of consequence, action and substance - this was further exasperated by my lack of care for the main character.

None of the characters were likeable and I did not care about any of them. The main character was very unlikeable with the way he treats the women around him.
His opinions on androids do not (in my opinion) seem to be set up very well so his empathy for them, when it happens, feels very sudden.

All in all, it was fine and had some interesting ideas. However, it was not written in a way that made me care about much of it.

“It's the basic condition of life to be required to violate our own identity.”

This is a science fiction classic that all fans of the genre should read!

Firstly, i'm a massive Blade Runner fan so I always expected to enjoy this book, I've read a few books by Philip K. Dick in the past and I've loved some thinking others (Man in the High Castle) could have been epic but sadly failed.

I wont go into the story because if you dont at least know the story to Blade Runner... where have you been? but I will say this is a very atmospheric book like so many other true classics of the genre, your pulled into this futuristic noir world that questions what it is to be human, what separates us from truly advanced androids? Empathy.

We follow Deckard who is a bounty hunter, the bounty hunters hunt androids who have assumed human identities and this opens up so many worms, you grow attached and fall in love to find out your lover isnt human... how would you feel?

Over all, I loved this book and would highly recommend it!

Conceptually intriguing, the writing here is not particularly compelling. Read this for the ideas.
